Lake Alice is located in the City of Cumming, Forsyth County, Georgia. The Lake, which is jointly owned by the City of Cumming and the Mashburn Family Trust, was built in the 1930s and is approximately 11 acres. Lake Alice discharges into Little Ridge Creek which flows into a cove of Lake Sidney Lanier, the water supply reservoir for the City of Atlanta.

On May 19, 2013, during a rain event, the dam forming Lake Alice was breached by excessive storm water entering the Lake resulting in sediments being discharged into Little Ridge Creek and Lake Lanier.

The City of Cumming and the Mashburn Family Trust are currently under a joint consent order, issued by the Georgia Environmental Protection Department, to remediate Lake Alice and remove sediments from Little Ridge Creek and Lake Sidney Lanier.

The proposed remediation includes the construction of a weir structure with a pond at the current dam breach location and excavation of sediments in Little Ridge Creek and Lake Sidney Lanier. The plans for the proposed remediation, Consent Order, and other relevant documents are included in the documents tab, for review by the general public and other interested parties.
